This precision strainer is the first line of defense for your gearbox. It screens metal dust, clutch/belt wear, and seal flakes from the ATF so the pump, valve body, and bearings get clean lubrication. Cleaner fluid means cooler operation, quieter running, and longer CVT life. Perfect for SUVs that see city heat and highway miles .
How it works
Mounted inside the pan, the pickup sits low to draw fluid through a fine stainless mesh. An O-ring seals the inlet so the pump cannot gulp air. The mesh traps debris while maintaining correct flow to the valve body and stepper/solenoids. Low restriction and tight sealing keep line pressure stable for seamless ratio changes.
What happens if it fails
Clogging or a torn screen causes delayed engagement, flare, judder, belt slip, pump whine, overheating, and DTCs. You may hit limp mode, see burnt fluid, and risk valve body and bearing damage. Ignoring it can turn a simple filter service into a costly CVT rebuild ⚠️.
Pro install tips
- Replace pan gasket and inlet O-ring; clean pan and magnets
- Fill with spec CVT fluid (e.g., NS-3); set level by temperature
- Torque pan bolts in sequence; road test and recheck for leaks
