This clutch release hub (throwout bearing carrier) is the guide and driver for the release bearing in your Toyota’s manual gearbox. It keeps the bearing aligned, ensures smooth pedal feel, and lets the clutch disengage cleanly for crisp gear changes. Built to OE geometry, it resists heat, vibration, and daily use .
Why you need it
Without a precise carrier, the bearing tilts and drags. The hub keeps the bearing centered on the guide tube, transmits force from the fork, and protects the pressure plate and input shaft from wear.
How it works
Press the clutch pedal and the fork pushes the hub forward. The hub drives the bearing into the diaphragm spring, releasing the disc. When you lift the pedal, the spring returns everything to rest. The hub’s smooth bore and face keep movement straight and quiet.
What happens if it fails ❗
Expect squeal or rattle, heavy or vibrating pedal, hard shifting, and clutch slip or drag. Broken ears/face can cause no-release and strand you. Misalignment chews the pressure plate fingers and bearing fast. Replace with the clutch kit or whenever the gearbox is out; apply a thin film of high-temp grease on contact points only .
