Why you need it
This component turns pedal effort into clean pressure on the clutch spring. It centers the force, cuts friction, and protects the gearbox input shaft. If you want a light pedal, quiet idle, and crisp gear changes, a healthy release bearing is essential.
How it works
Press the pedal and the fork pushes the bearing along the guide tube on the input shaft. The spinning race glides on the pressure plate fingers, freeing the disc from the flywheel so gears swap without grind. A sealed, highβtemp grease pack keeps the rollers smooth under heat, loads, and stopβgo traffic οΈ.
What happens if itβs bad
Typical signs: chirp or growl when the pedal is pressed, vibration in the pedal, stiff travel, hard gear engagement, or clutch drag/slip. Ignoring it can groove the pressure plate fingers, overheat the disc, crack the fork, and contaminate the bellhousing with metal, risking input shaft seal leaks.
Tech tips
Replace together with the clutch kit and pilot bushing. Clip the fork correctly, orient the bearing face to the diaphragm fingers, lightly lube the guide sleeve, and torque bellhousing bolts to spec. Bed in for 300β500 km for best feel .
