How it works βοΈ
Press the pedal: the piston slides forward, closing the inlet and pressurizing DOT 3/4 fluid. Pressure travels to the slave cylinder, releasing the clutch. The spring returns the piston, reopening the compensating port so fluid levels equalize. Tight seals keep pressure stable.
If parts are worn or broken β οΈ
Expect a soft or sinking pedal, leaks at the pushrod, aerated fluid, clutch drag, gear grind, and synchro wear. Severe failure can leave you stuck in gear and overheat the clutch disc.
Tech tips β
Inspect the bore; if pitted, replace the body. Clean only with fresh brake fluid. Lightly lubricate seals, assemble squarely, and bench-bleed. Flush the system and never use mineral oil.
