Diesel engines donโ€™t make manifold vacuum like gasoline motors. This gear is the mechanical link that keeps the pump spinning, so you get confident brake pedal feel, stable idle control, and reliable driveline engagement on and off road.

How it works

Mounted in the front cover, the gear meshes with the cam/crank idler and drives the vane/rotor pump at the correct speed. Correct tooth profile lowers noise and load, while engine oil lubricates the mesh, removes heat, and carries away fine wear particles. Proper clearance prevents pump wobble and seal wear.
