Why you need it ️
Diesel engines do not make intake vacuum. This OE‑spec vacuum pump creates steady vacuum for the brake booster, 4WD actuators, HVAC flaps, and emissions valves. It keeps pedal effort light and stopping distance short, even at idle and on climbs. Built for long service with clean oil and precise clearances.
How it works ⚙️
A cam or gear drives a rotor with sliding vanes inside an oval chamber. As it spins, it pulls air from the booster hose and expels it, building 80–95 kPa of vacuum. Internal seals and a check valve hold vacuum after shutdown, while engine oil lubricates and cools the unit for stable output.
When it fails
Typical signs are a hard brake pedal, longer stopping distance, weak HVAC control, or a hissing line. Oil at the body, a high‑pitched whine, or vacuum below spec confirm wear. Driving with low vacuum is unsafe and can harm the booster and one‑way valve—replace the pump at once.
Pro tips
- Measure vacuum at the booster tee; target 80–95 kPa at warm idle.
