Automatic Transmission Oil Cooler for Mitsubishi
This gearbox cooler keeps ATF at a safe temperature for smooth, long‑life shifting. It is a direct-fit solution for vehicles that tow, climb hills, or face hot city traffic. By controlling heat, it prevents clutch glaze, valve body wear, and hard shifts. Ideal for preventive maintenance and a smart replacement for a leaking or restricted cooler.
Why this part is needed
Heat is the main enemy of an automatic. Every 10°C rise above spec speeds up fluid oxidation and seal damage. A healthy transmission oil cooler lowers thermal stress, keeping the gearbox efficient and quiet.
How it works ❄️
ATF flows through an aluminum fin‑and‑tube core mounted ahead of the radiator/AC condenser. Airflow pulls heat from the fluid, then the cooled ATF returns to the transmission. Some systems use a thermostatic bypass for fast warm‑up.
What happens if it’s damaged ⚠️
Signs include hot or delayed shifts, slipping, burnt smell, warning light, limp mode, or pink leaks at hose joints. A clogged core raises line pressure; a cracked core can cross‑contaminate with coolant (milky ATF). Continued driving risks clutch burn and expensive overhaul.
Install notes ✅
Bolt in, connect lines with new O‑rings, torque fittings, flush the lines, refill with the specified Mitsubishi ATF, then road‑test and check for leaks.
