Engine Undercover Panel (Lower Splash Shield) ?οΈ
This lower underbody panel is fitted beneath the engine bay to protect vital components from road splash, stones, dust,
and winter salt. It also helps guide airflow under the vehicle, improving cooling balance and reducing wind turbulence
at speed. In many modern Hyundai/KIA platforms, itβs a key part of keeping the underside clean and preventing premature
corrosion on brackets, pulleys, belts, and electrical plugs.
Why this part is needed β
Without a proper shield, water and debris can reach the engine lower area, causing noisy operation, accelerated wear,
and messy oil contamination. It also supports better fuel efficiency by smoothing underbody airflow.
How it works βοΈ
The panel mounts to the subframe and bumper lower edge using clips/bolts. Once secured, it forms a barrier and an air
channel that deflects spray downward and keeps airflow stable around the sump and gearbox housing.
What happens if itβs broken β
A cracked or missing panel may drag on the road, vibrate, and create rattling noises. You may notice more dirt and
moisture around the engine, higher risk of connector corrosion, and potential damage from stones striking the oil pan
or belts.
