Windshield Washer Pump Assembly 💧
This electric washer pump is the small motor unit that pushes washer fluid from the reservoir to the screen nozzles. You need it to keep the windshield clear from dust, salt, insects, and road film—especially at night or in rain when glare builds fast. A healthy pump gives instant spray pressure so the wipers can do their job safely.
How it works ⚙️
When you pull the washer switch, the pump receives 12V power and spins an impeller inside a sealed housing. The impeller creates suction at the inlet and pressure at the outlet, sending fluid through the hose to the jets. Most setups use a rubber grommet seal to prevent leaks where the pump seats into the tank.
What happens if it fails 🚫
A weak or dead pump can cause no spray, slow dribble, or intermittent operation. You may also notice a humming sound with no fluid (blocked filter/line), blown fuse, or leaks around the tank area. Driving with poor washer function reduces visibility and can be unsafe, and dry wiping can scratch glass and wear the wiper blades faster.
