Washer Fluid Reservoir Inlet Neck & Grommet Assembly ??
This washer tank inlet piece is the gateway where you pour washer fluid into the reservoir. It is needed to keep filling fast, clean, and leak-free, while guiding fluid straight into the tank without splashing into the engine bay. A good inlet also helps the cap seal correctly, so dirt and water cannot contaminate the system.
How It Works βοΈ
The inlet neck channels fluid down into the reservoir and uses a tight-fitting seal (grommet) to lock into the tank. This prevents vibration leaks and keeps proper pressure balance when the pump draws fluid. The cap area keeps debris out, protecting the pump and spray nozzles from blockage.
Signs Itβs Failing & What Happens If Broken β
- Washer fluid smell or wet stains around the tank area
- Fluid level drops quickly after filling
- Hard to fill, fluid backs up or spills out
- Washer pump runs but little/no spray due to air leaks or contamination
If the inlet is cracked or the seal is loose, the reservoir can leak, leading to low fluid warnings, poor windshield cleaning, and possible pump wear from running dry. In winter, leaks can also freeze and crack nearby plastic parts.
