How it works ⚙️
The hub bolts to the steering knuckle while the driveshaft spline passes through and is clamped by the axle nut. Correct torque sets bearing preload. Labyrinth and contact seals lock grease in and keep water out. A magnetic ring inside the hub sends wheel-speed data to the sensor, stabilizing ABS and traction control.
If it fails ⚠️
Symptoms include a hum that changes with speed, steering shimmy, ABS light, uneven pad wear, and brake pulsation. Ignoring it can lead to wobble, rotor and tire damage, seized bearing, or loss of wheel control. Replace at the first signs to protect the knuckle and studs.
Tech tips 🔧
Clean mating faces, use new bolts and axle nut, torque to spec, align the sensor lead, check runout, and road-test. Recheck torque after 50–100 km.
