This flexible protective boot keeps the constant velocity joint clean, lubed, and sealed. It’s essential for smooth power delivery from transmission to wheel, especially on AWD layouts. If your old boot is cracked or greasy outside, replacing it prevents costly joint failure and keeps your ride quiet and tight.
Why This Part Is Needed ️
The boot traps high-temp grease inside the joint and blocks water, dust, and road salt. Without a good seal, the joint runs dry and wears rapidly, causing shudder, clicking, and loss of traction under load.
How It Works
Made from reinforced elastomer with ribbed folds, it flexes with suspension travel and steering angle. Stainless clamps secure both ends, while the inner lip mates tightly to the joint housing. Packed with moly grease, it cushions the bearings and keeps heat under control.
What Happens If It’s Broken ⚠️
Grease leaks out, grit gets in. You’ll hear clicking on turns, feel vibration on acceleration, and may see torn rubber or slung grease on the wheel well. Left unchecked, the CV joint can seize and the axle may fail.
