Automatic Transmission Valve Body Oil Filter οΈ
This small but critical filter keeps ATF clean before it reaches the valve body. Clean fluid means stable hydraulic pressure, crisp gear changes, and longer transmission life. Itβs designed for tight OEM fit, correct flow rate, and reliable sealing under heat and load.
Why you need it βοΈ
ATF carries clutch material, metal dust, and varnish. Without a healthy filter, debris travels into the valve body and solenoids, causing sticky valves and lazy shifts. Replacing a tired strainer restores shift quality and protects costly internals.
How it works
ATF is drawn through a fine media screen inside the pan. The filter traps particles before fluid feeds the pump, solenoids, and valve body galleries. Proper filtration stabilizes line pressure, keeps regulator valves moving freely, and supports smooth upshifts and downshifts.
What happens if itβs bad β
Slow or harsh shifts, flare between gears, shudder, delayed engagement, overheating, and eventual clutch damage. In severe cases the transmission may enter limp mode. Dark, burnt-smelling ATF often signals a clogged filter.
Tech notes β
Replace during ATF service. Always install with a new seal/O-ring, torque fasteners evenly, and use the specified ATF. If contamination is heavy, inspect the pan and clean the magnet.
