Air Intake Flow Sensor Assembly ?οΈ
This sensor is a key part of the engine air-intake system. The ECU needs an exact airflow reading to calculate fuel injection, turbo boost control (when fitted), and smooth idle. When the reading is correct, the engine starts easier, accelerates cleaner, and keeps emissions under control.
How it works βοΈ
Mounted in the intake stream, it measures the amount of air entering the engine and sends a live signal to the ECU. The ECU then adjusts fuel pulse and ignition strategy to keep the air/fuel mix right in real time, especially during cold starts, sudden throttle changes, and stop-and-go driving.
Why replacement may be needed ?οΈ
Heat, oil vapor, dust, and vibration can contaminate or weaken the sensing element. Even small drift in airflow data can cause drivability complaints and warning lights.
If itβs faulty ?
You may notice rough idle, hesitation, poor fuel economy, lack of power, hard starting, black smoke, or the engine going into limp mode. Long-term driving with wrong airflow data can overload the catalytic converter and increase carbon buildup.
