CV Joint Protective Boot for Subaru Drivetrain

This protective rubber boot is fitted over the outer CV joint area to keep the joint clean and properly lubricated. It is a small part, but it plays a big role in keeping your Subaru’s axle and steering drive smooth .

Why this part is needed

The CV joint must stay packed with grease while flexing during turns and suspension movement. This boot seals the joint from water, road salt, sand, and dust. Without a good seal, grease escapes and contamination gets inside fast.

How it works

The boot clamps tightly to the axle shaft and the joint housing. As the wheel turns left/right and moves up/down, the boot folds and stretches while holding grease in place. Quality material resists heat, oil splash, and cracking over time .

What happens if it’s broken

A split boot usually throws grease around the wheel well, then the joint runs dry. You may hear clicking on turns, feel vibration, and eventually the CV joint can seize or failβ€”often requiring a full axle replacement . Replacing the boot early saves money and prevents roadside trouble.

Service tip

Inspect for cracks and loose clamps at every oil change, especially if you drive in snow or off-road.
