Why you need it
Healthy airflow keeps glass clear and the cabin warm. If the blower is weak or dead, the heater core cannot push heat to the vents, defogging slows, comfort drops, and climate control becomes inefficient.
How it works
An electric motor spins a balanced squirrel-cage wheel. Air is pulled through the evaporator and heater core, then routed by ducts. Speed is set by the resistor or controller and the dashboard switch.
What happens if it’s broken
Symptoms include no fan, only one speed, weak airflow, rattling, squeal, burning smell, blown fuse, or hot connector ⚠️. Driving with a failed unit can overheat the resistor, strain wiring, and leave windows fogged.
Fit and install
Direct-fit housing and plug; usually accessed under the glovebox. Unplug, twist out, drop the unit, and reverse to install. Replace the cabin filter and clear debris for best performance .
