Why you need it

Without a healthy resistor, the blower will not step through speeds correctly. Proper airflow keeps the evaporator from icing, maintains comfort, and helps demist rapidly. It also balances electrical load to protect the fan circuit.

How it works ⚙️

Inside are calibrated resistor paths and a thermal fuse. When you choose a speed, current flows through different resistive tracks to slow the fan. Top speed usually bypasses the resistor via a relay. The unit sits in the air duct so passing air cools it during operation.
