Automatic Transmission Oil Pan Seal for Mitsubishi οΈ
Why you need it
This seal closes the joint between the transmission case and the oil pan. It keeps ATF inside, maintains hydraulic pressure, and helps cooling. A fresh gasket prevents leaks, protects friction plates and solenoids, and keeps shifts smooth and consistent.
How it works
The gasket is a precision, compressible ring that sits between flat metal surfaces. When the pan bolts are torqued in a cross pattern, the material forms a uniform barrier against ATF and road splash. It resists heat, vibration, and chemical attack from modern ATF.
What happens if itβs damaged β οΈ
- ATF drips and wet pan edges
- Shift flare, slipping, harsh or delayed engagement
- Overheating and burnt smell; possible warning light
- Premature wear of clutches, valve body issues, costly repairs
Replacement tips β
- Clean mating surfaces; check pan flange for warping
- Replace filter and ATF; use correct spec fluid
- Tighten bolts evenly to service-manual torque; avoid excess sealant
