Why this part is needed
The backing plate (also called brake dust shield or splash guard) stops water, mud, and stones from striking the rotor and hardware. It provides a rigid seat for parking brake shoes, keeping clearances correct, and extends the life of pads, rotor, and bearings.
How it works ⚙️
Bolted to the rear knuckle on the RH side, it positions the parking brake shoes, springs, and adjuster inside the rotor hat. Its formed steel body deflects debris, guides cooling air, and carries tabs for lines and sensor brackets, maintaining factory brake geometry.
What happens if it’s damaged ⚠️
Expect scraping noises, uneven e-brake hold, hotspotting or rust rings on the rotor, faster pad wear, seized adjusters, exposed ABS wiring, and possible inspection failure. Severe corrosion can crack the plate and misalign the shoes.

Fits rear RH. Clean the hub face, torque fasteners to spec, and inspect shoes, springs, and seals. Set shoe-to-hat clearance and verify free wheel rotation with slight parking brake drag after adjustment.
