Oil Filter Housing Cap Assembly ?️
This component seals the oil filter housing and keeps engine oil flowing through the filter under pressure. It’s needed whenever the original cap is cracked, warped, stripped at the threads, or no longer holds a tight seal. A good cap prevents oil leaks, keeps correct oil pressure, and protects the filter element from bypassing.
How It Works ✅
The cap locks into the filter housing and compresses the O-ring to create a leak-free seal. Inside the housing, oil is forced through the filter media before returning to the engine. The cap also keeps the filter seated correctly so oil doesn’t slip past it during cold starts or high RPM driving.
What Happens If It’s Broken ⚠️
A damaged cap can cause oil seepage or sudden oil loss, leading to low oil pressure warnings, noisy lifters, and accelerated bearing wear.
