Rear Drum Brake Shoe Set

This kit restores the rear braking system on select Subaru models. The friction linings press evenly against the drum to slow the wheel, giving stable stops in city, highway, and wet conditions. Fresh shoes improve pedal feel, shorten stopping distance, and keep the parking brake strong and reliable.

Why it’s needed

Brake linings wear every trip. When thin or glazed, they lose grip, squeal, and overheat. Replacing as a matched pair protects the drum from scoring and keeps left/right balance correct for safe, straight stops. OE-spec geometry means quiet operation and fast bed-in.

How it works ⚙️

Press the pedal and the wheel cylinder pushes the shoes outward. The arc-shaped linings bite the inside of the drum, turning motion into heat. Return springs retract the shoes, while the adjuster keeps the running clearance right. The same shoes engage for the parking brake hold.

If worn or broken ⚠️

Expect longer stopping distance, soft pedal, pull to one side, parking brake slip, grinding noises, and hot drums. Ignoring it can damage drums, springs, and the wheel cylinder—raising repair costs.
