Rear parking brake shoe set for Subaru

Keep your Subaru steady on every incline with a fresh set of rear parking brake shoes. Built to OE geometry and friction grade, this kit restores firm handbrake hold, quiet operation, and balanced wear. Ideal for daily driving, towing, or inspection compliance.

Why this part is needed ️

The parking brake is your last line of defense when parked. Worn, glazed, or oil-soaked linings reduce grip, leading to long lever travel and poor holding power. Replacing the shoes brings back safe, predictable locking on hills.

How it works

Inside the rear rotor is a small drum (drum-in-hat). Pulling the lever moves a cable and actuator that spreads the shoes outward. The high-friction lining presses the drum, stopping wheel rotation. A star-wheel adjuster sets correct clearance for consistent bite.

What happens if it’s worn or broken ⚠️

Rolling on slopes, squeal or scraping, hot smell after parking, uneven wear in the drum hat, and extra lever clicks. Severely damaged linings can delaminate, score the drum, or lock a wheel. Replace in axle pairs for even performance.

Tech tips ✅

Clean and deglaze the drum hat, lightly lube pivots (no grease on friction), set adjuster to slight drag, bed-in with gentle stops at low speed, and torque wheel nuts correctly.
