Automatic Transmission Fluid Intake Strainer Assembly ️
This component is a vital guard for your automatic gearbox. It sits in the fluid pickup path and helps keep the transmission oil clean before it reaches the pump. Clean ATF means stable pressure, smooth shifting, and longer life for valves, solenoids, and clutch packs.
Why this part is needed ✅
During normal driving, tiny friction dust from clutches, metal micro-particles, and seal debris can mix with ATF. The strainer traps these contaminants so they don’t circulate and damage precision parts inside the transmission.
How it works ⚙️
The internal mesh/filter media screens the oil as the pump draws fluid from the pan. By maintaining a steady, unrestricted pickup, it supports correct line pressure and consistent lubrication, especially under heat and high load.
What happens if it’s clogged or broken ❌
A restricted or split strainer can cause pump cavitation, delayed engagement, harsh or slipping shifts, shudder, overheating, and warning lights. In severe cases, dirty ATF bypasses protection and accelerates wear of valve body channels and clutch material—leading to costly transmission failure.
