Fuel Injector Leak-Off Return Pipe Assembly (No.2) ?
This small but critical pipe is used in the diesel injection system to route excess fuel (leak-off) away from the injector and back to the return circuit. It is needed to keep injector pressure stable, prevent fuel pooling, and maintain clean, predictable engine running. A good leak-off line also helps protect seals and nearby wiring from constant fuel exposure.
How It Works ?
During injection, a tiny amount of fuel slips past the injector internals for lubrication and cooling. This assembly collects that fuel through the injector nipple and carries it through a sealed tube path to the return side. Tight joints and correct pipe shape are vital, because even a minor air entry or seep can affect starting and idle quality.
When Itβs Failing or Broken β οΈ
If the pipe cracks, hardens, or the fittings loosen, you may notice a diesel smell, wetness around injectors, rough idle, hard starting, or visible fuel misting. Left unattended, leaking fuel can damage hoses, soften rubber parts, increase fire risk, and cause poor fuel economy. In severe cases, air intrusion can lead to misfires and loss of power.
