Camshaft Position Sensor for Nissan/Infiniti Engines

Why this part is needed

The camshaft sensor tells the ECU the exact position of the cam so fuel injection and ignition happen at the right time. With a healthy sensor, hot starts are quick, idle is smooth, and power delivery is clean. It protects your engine, saves fuel, and keeps emissions in check .

How it works

Inside the body is a Hall‑effect pickup that reads a toothed trigger on the cam. As teeth pass, it sends a clean digital on/off signal. The ECU compares this with the crank signal to control variable valve timing and coil firing βš™οΈ. Built to OEM spec to withstand heat, oil, and vibration.

What happens if it’s broken

When the signal is weak or missing, you can get hard starting, stalling at stops, poor acceleration, high fuel use, rough idle, and a Check Engine Light (often P0340/P0345). Prolonged driving can cause misfires and damage the catalytic converter. In many cases the engine may crank but not start .

Tech notes

Install with a fresh O‑ring, torque the hold‑down bolt correctly, route the harness away from hot parts, and clear codes after fitting. If faults remain, inspect wiring and the cam trigger wheel.
