Clutch Friction Disc for Mitsubishi Manual Gearbox ⚙️
This friction disc is the “grip link” between the engine and the transmission in a manual drivetrain. It is needed to start moving smoothly, change gears without grinding, and control power transfer when towing or driving off-road. The disc sits between the flywheel and pressure plate; when you release the pedal, it clamps tight and sends torque to the gearbox. When you press the pedal, it separates slightly so gears can be selected cleanly.
How It Works ?
High-friction linings bite the flywheel, while the sprung hub cushions shocks to protect the gearbox and driveline. This helps reduce chatter, improves take-off feel, and keeps shifts stable under load.
Signs It’s Worn or Broken ?
- Slipping under acceleration (RPM rises but speed doesn’t)
- Burnt smell after hills or towing
- Judder/vibration on take-off
- Hard shifting from damaged hub springs or warped surfaces
What Happens If You Ignore It
Continued driving can overheat the flywheel and pressure plate, damage the release system, and leave you stranded with no drive at all.
