Upstream/Front Oxygen Sensor for Subaru

Why this part is needed

Keep your Subaru clean, efficient, and smooth with a healthy O2 sensor . Mounted in the exhaust manifold, it measures oxygen in the exhaust and tells the ECU to correct the fuel mix. That keeps idle stable, throttle response sharp, emissions low, and fuel economy high .

How it worked

Inside is a zirconia sensing cell with a quick heater. Once hot, it switches voltage between lean and rich (about 0.1–0.9 V). The ECU reads this signal to run in closed loop and hold the mix near 14.7:1, protecting the catalytic converter and maintaining power.

What happens if the part is broken

When the sensor fails you may get a check engine light ⚠️ (codes like P0130–P0135), rough idle, hesitation, poor power, fuel smell, black tailpipe, and higher fuel use. Driving too long can overheat the catalyst, cause misfires, and fail an emissions test.

Tech/Install notes

Plug-and-play 4‑wire connector. Install upstream (pre‑cat). Use an O2 socket, avoid touching the tip, apply nickel anti‑seize to threads only, and torque to 30–35 N·m. After install, clear codes and reset fuel trims with a scan tool.
