High-Precision Oxygen Sensor (Lambda Probe) for Nissan Performance Engines
Why this part is needed
This sensor monitors exhaust oxygen to keep the airโfuel ratio near 14.7:1. The ECU uses this data to trim fuel in real time, improving cold starts, throttle response, fuel economy, and emissions. A healthy O2 sensor protects the catalytic converter and maintains smooth idle and power across the rev range. Ideal for keeping your Nissan running clean and strong .
How it works
Mounted in the exhaust stream, the probe compares oxygen in the exhaust to ambient air. It generates a rapid-switching signal (about 0.1โ0.9 V) that tells the ECU if the mix is lean or rich. The built-in heater speeds warm-up so closed-loop control starts sooner. Upstream placement tunes fuel trims; downstream placement monitors catalyst efficiency.
What happens if itโs broken
Failure triggers the check engine light, rough idle, higher fuel use, sluggish acceleration, sulphur smell, and can overheat or poison the catalyst. The ECU may fall back to open-loop maps, causing rich running, carbon buildup, and failed emissions tests โ ๏ธ.
Install tips
Apply anti-seize on threads only, torque to spec, route the harness away from heat, and clear codes after installation. Verify heater and signal circuits if codes reappear.
