High-Precision Air Flow Sensor for Subaru Engines 🔧
This mass air flow unit keeps your engine computer informed about how much air enters the intake. With correct data, the ECU balances fuel, spark, and idle, giving smooth power, clean emissions, and strong mileage. A fresh, accurate sensor restores crisp throttle response and stable idle 🚗.
Why You Need It
Over time, dust and oil films skew readings, causing rich or lean mixtures. Replacing a tired sensor prevents power loss, rough idle, hard starts, and catalytic converter stress.
How It Works
Inside is a heated element and temperature circuit. Airflow cools the element; the control circuit measures the electrical change and sends a precise voltage signal to the ECU. The ECU then calculates fuel trim for every load and rpm ⛽.
What Happens If It’s Faulty
Expect sluggish acceleration, black smoke or sulfur smell, stumbles on takeoff, surging at cruise, poor fuel economy, and a glowing check‑engine light (often P0100–P0104). Long term, plugs foul and the catalytic converter can overheat ⚠️.
Fitment & Tips
Install between airbox and throttle body. Use a new gasket, tighten evenly, and clear codes. Never spray harsh cleaners on the sensing wire.
