Intake Mass Air Flow Sensor for Mitsubishi

Why you need this part

This MAF sensor tells the ECU exactly how much fresh air enters the intake. With precise airflow data, the engine sets the right fuel dose, timing, and boost. Result: clean idle, strong torque, smooth acceleration, lower fuel use, and reduced emissions .

How it works

Inside is a heated element measured by the electronics. As air passes, it cools the element; the sensor changes its signal voltage according to airflow. The ECU reads that signal thousands of times per second to control injection and EGR. It’s fast, accurate, and stable across temps and altitudes βš™οΈ.

What happens if it fails

Expect hard starting, rough idle, flat spots, black smoke, poor MPG, and limp mode. The ECU may throw codes like P0100–P0104 and switch to a default map, making the engine run rich or lean. Long term, it can foul the turbo, DPF/catalyst, and O2 sensors ⚠️.

Tech notes

Use the correct air filter, check for intake leaks, and never touch the hot film. Install with the arrow toward airflow and clear trims after replacement βœ….
