Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor (ECT)
Keep your engine smart and efficient with a precise ECT sensor οΈ. This small part feeds real-time temperature data to the ECU so it can command correct fuel mix, ignition timing, idle speed, and radiator fan operation. The result is smooth cold starts, stable performance, better fuel economy, and cleaner emissions.
Why you need it
Without accurate coolant temp data, the ECU is βblind.β The engine may run too rich or too lean, waste fuel, and overheat. A healthy sensor protects the head gasket, catalytic converter, and wallet.
How it works
Inside is a thermistor (usually NTC). As coolant warms, resistance drops. The ECU sends a 5V reference, reads the return signal, and calculates exact temperature. The threaded tip sits in the coolant passage; the connector sends a clean signal to the ECU.
What happens if it breaks β οΈ
Common signs: hard cold starts, rough idle, poor mileage, weak heater control, fan stuck on/off, limp mode, and Check Engine Light (codes like P0115βP0119). Ignoring it can cause overheating and costly damage.
Install tips β
Plug-and-play. Use a fresh O-ring, apply correct torque, do not overtighten. Top up coolant and bleed air after replacement, then clear fault codes.
