Engine Intake Pressure Sensor (MAP) for Subaru

This sensor is essential for clean power, stable idle, and low fuel use. It reads absolute pressure in the intake manifold and sends a precise voltage signal to the ECU/ECM. Using this data with RPM and air temperature, the computer calculates air load (speed-density) to set fuel injection, ignition timing, EGR, and, where fitted, turbo control. A healthy MAP sensor keeps cold starts smooth, throttle crisp, and emissions in check ✅.

How it works ⚙️

A MEMS silicon diaphragm inside the unit flexes with manifold pressure. Electronics convert that change into a 0.5–4.5 V output. The signal is temperature-compensated and fast, so the ECU can react to quick pedal changes. OE-style connector and sealing O-ring ensure airtight fit and accurate readings.

What happens if it’s faulty ❗

  • Hard start, rough idle, hesitation on acceleration
  • High fuel consumption, weak power, black smoke ⛽
  • Check Engine light: P0106/P0107/P0108
  • Limp mode or unstable boost on turbo engines
  • Possible catalytic converter and spark plug fouling

Tech tips

Plug-and-play fit. Inspect vacuum path and manifold port; clean carbon. Replace brittle hoses. Seat the O-ring, tighten evenly (about 8–10 Nm), then clear codes and perform idle relearn. Never use sealant that can block the port.
