Subaru Spark Plug

Spark plugs are a critical component of your vehicle's ignition system. They produce the spark that ignites the air-fuel mixture in the engine's cylinders, enabling the engine to start and run smoothly. Without a properly functioning spark plug, your vehicle's engine may fail to start or may run inefficiently, leading to poor performance and reduced fuel economy.

How It Works

When you turn the ignition key, an electrical signal is sent to the spark plug, which creates a high-voltage spark. This spark bridges the gap between the central electrode and the ground electrode, igniting the compressed air-fuel mixture in the combustion chamber. This ignition process is repeated continually, driving the pistons and propelling the vehicle forward.

What Happens if a Spark Plug is Broken

If a spark plug is worn out or broken, it can result in a range of issues, from engine misfires and starting problems to increased emissions and reduced power output. Misfiring can also cause unburned fuel to pass into the exhaust system, potentially damaging other components such as the catalytic converter.
