Intake Air Flow Meter Assembly 🌬️
This sensor unit is needed to measure how much air enters the engine, so the ECU can calculate the correct fuel dose and ignition control. When the airflow reading is accurate, the engine runs smooth, starts easily, and keeps fuel economy and emissions in check ✅.
How it works
Air passes through the meter body and across a sensing element. The unit converts airflow into an electrical signal, then sends it to the ECU. The ECU uses this data to adjust injector pulse width and maintain the right air-fuel ratio during idle, cruising, and acceleration.
Signs of a failing unit
If the meter becomes dirty, weak, or electrically damaged, the ECU receives wrong airflow values. This can cause rough idle, hesitation, poor power, black smoke, higher fuel use, and random stalling. In severe cases the vehicle may go into limp mode and trigger a check engine light ⚠️.
Why replacement matters
Driving with incorrect airflow measurement can overload the catalytic converter, foul spark plugs, and stress the engine over time. Replacing the unit restores proper fueling and stable performance.
