Engine Air Flow Meter Sensor — Restore Power and Economy

Why this part is needed

This mass air flow (MAF) unit is vital for precise fuel delivery. It tells the engine control unit how much air enters the intake, so the ECU can match fuel for clean combustion. With a healthy meter, you get smooth idle, strong pull, reliable starts, and low emissions in all weather.

How it works

Inside the housing is a heated element and temperature circuit. Incoming air cools the element; the sensor adjusts current to keep it at target heat and converts that change into a voltage signal. The ECU reads this signal to calculate load, timing, and fuel trims. A sealed body, calibrated channel, and gold-plated pins ensure stable readings from idle to wide-open throttle.

What happens if it fails

• Rough idle, hesitation, or flat spots ⚠️
• Poor fuel economy and black exhaust smoke
• Hard starting, stalling, limp mode
• Check Engine light (often P0100–P0104)

Tech tips

Install between airbox and throttle body. Use only MAF-safe cleaner; do not touch the hot wire. Always check for intake leaks and a clean filter to protect the sensor.
