Camshaft Position Sensor Assembly for Subaru Engines ⚙️

Keep engine timing precise with this OE-spec camshaft position sensor. It sends exact cam angle data to the ECU so fuel injection and spark stay in sync for smooth power, clean idle, and strong fuel economy. Built for consistent readings in heat and vibration, it restores reliable performance in daily use.

Why this part is needed

Modern Subaru engines depend on accurate cam feedback for quick starts, stable idle, VVT control, and emissions. A fresh sensor prevents guesswork by the ECU, avoiding rough running and limp mode. It’s a small part with a big impact on drivability.

How it works

A Hall-effect pickup detects a metal target on the camshaft. Each tooth pass generates a clean voltage signal. The ECU compares this to the crank sensor to identify the compression stroke, then times injection, ignition, and variable valve timing with high precision.

When it fails ⚠️

Symptoms include long crank or no-start (often when hot), misfires, rough idle, weak power, stalling at stops, poor economy, and a check engine light (codes P0340/P0341). Prolonged faults can fuel-foul plugs and stress the catalytic converter .

Tech notes

Plug-and-play connector, sealed body, heat-resistant housing. Install on a clean seat, lightly oil the O-ring, torque the bolt, route the harness away from exhaust, clear codes, and perform an idle relearn .
