Camshaft Position Sensor Assembly for Subaru Engines ⚙️
This precision sensor feeds the ECU exact camshaft angle data so timing and AVCS stay perfectly synced. It restores smooth starts, clean idle, strong throttle response, and stable fuel economy in demanding daily use. Built to OE standards for heat, oil, and vibration.
Why you need it 🔧
Without a healthy camshaft position signal, the ECU cannot trigger sequential injection or ignition at the right moment. That means weak power, higher fuel use, and higher emissions. Replacing a tired sensor prevents repeated check engine lights and protects the catalytic converter.
How it works 🧠
A magnetic pickup reads a toothed cam trigger wheel and sends clean voltage pulses to the ECU. The ECU aligns this with the crankshaft signal to control spark, fuel, and variable valve timing in real time. Fast response electronics ensure crisp synchronization during cold starts and hot traffic.
What happens if it fails ⚠️
Symptoms include hard or no start (hot or cold), rough idle, misfire, hesitation, poor acceleration, stalling at stops, and CEL codes like P0340/P0341. The ECU may enter limp mode, fuel trims go off, and raw fuel can overheat the catalyst.
Install tips 🛠️
Mounts to the cam cover with a single fastener. Lightly oil the O-ring, seat squarely, and torque gently. Inspect the connector for oil intrusion, clear codes, and perform a short relearn drive.
