Turbo Intercooler Assembly for Subaru
This cooling unit sits between the turbocharger and the intake system and is vital for any boosted Subaru. When the turbo compresses air, it gets hot οΈ. Hot air is less dense, so the engine loses power and can run closer to knock. This part is needed to drop charge-air temperature, increase oxygen density, and help the ECU keep safe ignition timing.
How It Works
Pressurized air flows through internal passages while outside air passes across the fins. The aluminum core transfers heat out fast, so the intake charge enters the manifold cooler and heavier. The result is smoother boost response, stronger pull under load, and better reliability on long climbs or spirited driving .
What Happens If Itβs Broken
A cracked tank, leaking weld, or clogged core can cause boost leaks, poor acceleration, whistling noises, and higher intake temps.
