Radiator Pressure Cap Assembly — OEM Fit ?
This cooling system cap seals the radiator and controls pressure so your engine runs at the right temperature. A correct radiator cap raises the coolant’s boiling point, prevents boil-over, and keeps fluid moving between the radiator and the overflow tank. It protects hoses, pump, and gaskets while keeping the system air-tight ??.
Why you need it
Without a healthy pressure cap, coolant can escape or boil early, leading to overheating, reduced heater performance, and costly damage. It’s a small part with a big job in engine reliability and fuel efficiency.
How it works
A spring-loaded valve holds a set pressure (typically around 0.9–1.1 bar). When pressure rises, the valve vents to the overflow bottle. On cool-down, the vacuum valve pulls coolant back, keeping the system full. The high-temp seal keeps air out and pressure in.
What happens if it’s bad
Overheating in traffic, coolant smell, wet radiator neck, random temp spikes, collapsed upper hose after shut-off, and frequent top-ups. Continued driving risks head gasket failure ?.
