Engine Thermostat & Seal Set for Subaru Cooling System βοΈ
Why this part is needed
This cooling system control unit helps your Subaru engine reach working temperature fast, then keeps it stable in traffic, on hills, and in cold weather. Stable temperature protects the head gasket, prevents oil breakdown, and improves heater performance inside the cabin. The included sealing gasket stops coolant leaks at the housing.
How it works
Inside the thermostat is a wax capsule. When coolant is cold, the valve stays closed, forcing coolant to circulate in the engine for quicker warm-up. As temperature rises, the wax expands and opens the valve, sending coolant to the radiator to release heat. The gasket ensures correct pressure and prevents air from entering the system.
What happens if itβs broken
Stuck closed
Fast overheating, boiling coolant, heater may blow cold, and serious engine damage can follow.
Stuck open
Engine runs too cool, weak cabin heat, poor fuel economy, and higher emissions.
Bad gasket
Coolant leaks, low level, air pockets, and unstable temperature readings.
