How it works ⚙️
Inside is a wax-pellet valve. When coolant heats up, the wax expands and opens the valve, sending flow to the radiator. When cold, it stays closed and routes coolant through the bypass for a quick warm-up. It opens gradually, so temperature stays stable even under load. OEM-style jiggle pin bleeds air for smooth circulation.
What happens if it fails ⚠️
- Stuck closed: rapid overheating, boiling coolant, possible head gasket damage.
- Stuck open: slow warm-up, weak cabin heat, high fuel use, P0128 code.
