This heavy-duty 150A main fuse safeguards the entire power path between alternator, battery, starter, and interior fuse box. It is essential to stop wire overheating, protect ECUs, and keep charging voltage stable. How it works
Inside is a calibrated melt link that opens only when current exceeds its 150A rating for a defined time. The bolt-down copper terminals ensure solid contact, minimal heat, and accurate trip behavior. It typically sits in the under-hood fuse/relay block near the battery. Correct torque on the posts prevents arcing and hot spots.
What happens if it breaks
Blown fuse = no crank, dead cluster, radio off, and the battery will not charge. Jump-starts wonβt hold because the alternator is disconnected. Partial damage may cause dim lights, hot fuse box, or a burning smell. Never bypass with wireβthis risks harness fire.
Replacement tips
