Inlet Manifold Air Temperature Sensor ️

This small but critical sensor measures the temperature of air entering the intake manifold so the ECU can calculate the correct fuel mixture and ignition timing. When intake air is colder, the engine needs more fuel; when it’s hotter, it needs less. By feeding accurate data, this unit helps smooth starting, stable idle, clean acceleration, and better fuel economy.

How it works βš™οΈ

Inside is a thermistor that changes resistance with temperature. The ECU reads this change as a voltage signal and adjusts injector pulse and timing in real time, especially during warm-up and under load.

Why you need a healthy sensor βœ…

Correct air-temp data protects the engine from running too rich or too lean, supports proper turbo/NA response, and helps reduce emissions.

What happens if it’s faulty

A failing sensor can cause hard starts, rough idle, hesitation, black smoke, increased fuel use, loss of power, or a check engine light. Long-term wrong fueling may foul spark plugs, overload the catalytic converter, and stress the engine.
