Inlet Manifold Air Temperature Sensor
This small but vital sensor measures the temperature of the air entering the intake manifold. The engine computer uses this value to fine-tune fuel delivery and ignition timing, helping your Mitsubishi run smooth, start easily, and keep fuel economy on target ✅
Why this part is needed
Air temperature changes air density. Colder air is denser and needs more fuel; hotter air needs less. This sensor gives the ECU accurate data so the air/fuel mix stays correct in all weather and driving conditions ?️
How it works
Inside is a thermistor that changes resistance with heat. As intake air warms or cools, the sensor signal changes. The ECU reads the signal and adjusts injector pulse and timing to prevent hesitation and improve combustion ⚙️
What happens if it’s broken
A faulty unit can cause hard starts, rough idle, poor acceleration, black smoke, high fuel consumption, and sometimes a check engine light. In severe cases it may trigger limp mode and increase carbon buildup over time ?
