Camshaft Position Sensor β€” OE-Grade for Mitsubishi Engines

Why this part is needed

This camshaft position sensor sends exact cam angle data to the ECU so your Mitsubishi can control spark, sequential fuel injection, and VVT with precision. A healthy sensor restores easy starts, smooth idle, strong pull, clean emissions, and good fuel economy. It’s a direct-fit OE replacement designed for accurate timing feedback under heat and vibration.

How it works βš™οΈ

Inside is a magnetic/Hall element that reads windows on the cam trigger wheel. It generates a clean square-wave signal. The ECU pairs this with the crankshaft signal to know which cylinder is on compression, then fires the right injector and ignition coil at the right momentβ€”especially important for variable valve timing strategies.

What happens if it’s broken ❗

Symptoms include long crank or no-start (often hot), rough idle, random misfires, flat acceleration, limp mode, and a Check Engine lightβ€”common DTCs P0340/P0341. Fuel wash can foul plugs and overheat the catalytic converter. Intermittent faults often come from oil intrusion, cracked wiring, or a loose connector.

Tech tips

Confirm 5V reference, ground, and signal with a scope; inspect connector seals; replace the O-ring; torque to spec; keep metal filings away from the tip. After install, clear codes and perform any required relearn.
