Fuel Vapor Canister for EVAP System β½οΈ
This component is a key part of the EVAP (fuel vapor control) system. It is needed to stop raw fuel fumes from escaping into the air, especially when the tank heats up or the vehicle is parked. By trapping and managing vapor, it helps keep emissions low, prevents fuel smell around the car, and supports stable idle and smooth refueling.
How It Works ?
Inside the housing is activated charcoal that absorbs fuel vapor from the fuel tank. When driving conditions are right, the purge control pulls fresh air through the canister and sends the stored vapor into the engine to be burned normally. This recycling process protects the environment and saves small amounts of fuel over time.
If Itβs Worn or Broken β οΈ
A faulty unit can cause a strong fuel odor, hard starting after refueling, unstable idle, increased emissions, or a check engine light for EVAP leaks/flow issues. In some cases, it may lead to fuel pump nozzle clicking off too early during filling, or trouble passing an emissions inspection.
