Fuel Vapor Control Hose for Mitsubishi

This hose is a key link in the EVAP (fuel vapor control) system. Its job is to safely route fuel vapors from the tank area to the charcoal canister and intake path, so the engine burns the vapors instead of releasing them into the air ?. You need it to keep emissions correct, prevent fuel smells, and help the vehicle pass inspection.

How It Works

The hose carries vapor under slight vacuum/pressure changes. It must stay airtight, fuel-resistant, and flexible. When the purge valve opens, stored vapors move through the line to the engine and are burned during normal driving. A tight seal also helps the ECU keep stable readings and proper purge flow.

What Happens If It’s Broken

Cracks, swelling, or loose ends can cause an EVAP leak. Common results are a strong fuel odor, rough idle after refueling, harder starts, reduced fuel economy, and a check engine light (often EVAP leak codes). In severe cases, vapors may vent near hot parts, increasing risk and failing emissions tests ⚠️.

Why Replace With the Correct Spec

EVAP lines use special rubber/plastic blends that resist hydrocarbons. Using the wrong hose can soften, collapse, or leak, bringing the same problem back quickly.
