Why you need it
Without a healthy PCV circuit, moisture and acids linger in the oil, forming deposits. Proper metering maintains slight crankcase vacuum, protecting seals and reducing oil leaks while meeting emissions standards.
How it works
Inside is a spring‑biased check pintle reacting to manifold vacuum. At idle it restricts flow for stable mixture; under load it opens to vent pressure, letting gases reburn while limiting oil mist. Precision clearances prevent backfire from reaching the crankcase.
When it fails
Stuck‑open: rough idle, lean codes, whistling hoses, higher oil use. Stuck‑closed: sludge, crankcase pressure, gasket seepage, bluish exhaust, fuel smell, and Check Engine light ⚠️.
