Engine Intake Air Duct – Restore Smooth Airflow

This molded air channel links the air filter box to the throttle body and MAF sensor. It seals the intake path so your engine breathes cool, metered air. A tight duct protects the MAF, keeps fuel trims correct, improves throttle response and economy, and reduces induction noise.

How it works

The duct guides filtered air in a smooth, low‑turbulence stream from the airbox to the intake. Tuned bends and an even bore stabilize airflow for precise MAF readings. Flexible ribs absorb engine movement so joints don’t tear. Reinforced clamp lands and molded ports maintain a leak‑free seal under vacuum at idle and load.

What happens if it’s damaged ⚠️

Heat and oil vapors age the plastic; hairline cracks form near ribs or hose nipples. Symptoms follow: rough idle, hesitation, whistle on tip‑in, poor MPG, and a Check Engine light for lean mixture. A split duct creates a vacuum leak—unmetered air bypasses the MAF, skewing fueling. Dust can enter and contaminate the throttle, scuff cylinders, and over time lean burn may stress valves and the catalytic converter. Replace at first signs of wear to protect your engine.

Installation tips

Direct fit. Loosen two clamps, transfer any sensors/hoses, align tabs, and tighten evenly—snug, not overtight. Inspect O‑rings, PCV/aux ports, and the air filter. After installation, perform a quick smoke or soapy‑water test for leaks and clear codes if present. No tuning required. ✅
