Radiator Pressure Cap for Toyota Cooling System
This small cap does a big job. It seals the radiator neck, holds the correct pressure, and keeps coolant from boiling too early. By maintaining pressure, it raises the boiling point, prevents air entry, and directs fluid to and from the overflow tank. A fresh, tight cap protects the engine, water pump, hoses, and heater core for stable temperature control and longer component life.
How it works ️
Inside is a spring-loaded pressure valve set around typical OEM spec (about 0.9–1.1 bar). When pressure climbs, the valve opens and sends coolant to the reservoir. As the engine cools, a vacuum valve opens to pull coolant back, keeping the system full. The rubber gasket seals the neck, while the stainless spring resists heat and corrosion for consistent operation.
What happens if it fails
- Overheating or boil-over at traffic or climbs
- Coolant loss into overflow with no return
- Collapsed upper hose after cooldown
- Hard hoses, steam, or sweet smell
- Poor cabin heat, air pockets, gasket stress
Install & care ✅
Only remove when cool. Inspect neck and gasket, clean seating surface, and twist until locked. Replace at signs of rust, cracked seal, weak spring, or every few years for preventive care.
